The NFC North is shaping up to be a challenging division to win, with three teams making the playoffs last season. Still, one NFL expert predicts the Green Bay Packers will come out on top for the first time since 2021.

Last season, the Packers made the playoffs, going 11-6 and finishing third in the division with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions possessing a better record than Green Bay.

Nonetheless, the Vikings are counting on a rookie quarterback in J.J. McCarthy, and the Lions lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, now the Chicago Bears' head coach. As a result, CBS Sports' Senior NFL Columnist Pete Prisco believes 2025 will be the season in which the Packers win the division.

"Look, people will say I always pick the Packers," Prisco said. "But look, I love this team. I love the makeup of the team. We talk about youth — they were the youngest team in the league last year. A lot of those guys played well. Now you're moving into second and third year, and that means you've got experience, and that's always a good thing. And Love is healthy. That's the most important thing."

Prisco also points out that the other three teams in the division have question marks, giving Green Bay a chance to grab the division title this season and end the Lions’ recent dominance with their back-to-back NFC North titles.

"You look at the division," Prisco added. "Look, the Lions have issues — they lost both coordinators. That's a major change for the Detroit Lions. The Vikings [have a] new quarterback, J.J. McCarthy. What's he going to do? Nobody knows.

"Then the Bears, new coach Ben Johnson. How does Caleb Williams pick up the offensive system, and how does he play in that system? A lot of questions around the division. The Packers have some, too, particularly the pass rush and the quarterback position a little bit, but I think they're good enough to win the division."

Furthermore, one way that the Packers can take advantage of the changes with the other three teams in the NFC North will be to get off to a good start and make it enough where the Bears, Lions, and Vikings can't overcome to win the division.
