NFL Fans Bracing for the Worst After Latest Micah Parsons Update

This new Micah Parsons update changes everything.

NFL Fans Bracing for the Worst After Latest Micah Parsons Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

On Friday, Parsons took to social media to announce he "no longer wants to be here," detailing frustration over "close door negotiations without my agent present" and "narratives created and spread to the media" about his injuries and performance.

In his statement, Parsons noted how he had met with Jones in March to discuss leadership, but the conversation, to Parsons' surprise, turned into contract negotiations.

Despite being under contract via his fifth-year option (worth $24 million for 2025), he felt the Cowboys had no interest in engaging his agent on an extension.

To make matters worse, since the public trade request, Parsons and his representatives have had zero direct communication with Jerry Jones, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This latest update prompted immediate response from NFL fans across social media.

"At what point are Cowboys fans allowed to lose sleep over this," said one user.

"No hope! He’s gone! Make the trade Jerry," another fan replied.

"I think Micah has made his intentions known. Trade the man," said one other commenter.

"Bro wants out fr," another user responded.

"That relationship is done. Jerry better get some good stuff for him," one other fan commented.

"He’s gonna look so good as a Niner," said another user.

Jerry Jones vs. Micah Parsons: Contract Talks to Trade Request

Parsons’ contract saga dates back to before the 2024 season, when he first asked to open extension talks. He postponed those discussions to focus on the field, only to find that no formal offer materialized afterward.

In March, Parsons met privately with Jones, aparently to discuss leadership, but that conversation veered into contract details. Parsons engaged, believing a handshake agreement was reached, then informed his agent that formal talks would follow.

According to Parsons, those talks never happened, prompting his public trade request on August 1.

While Parsons has remained on site and participated in team meetings, he has sat out physical practices.

His absence from drills, coupled with Jones recently saying he is "absolutely not" confident Parsons will play in Week 1, has ratcheted up fans' concerns about his availability and the true likelihood of a franchise parting with one of its cornerstones.

As the preseason progresses, the spotlight on Jones, Parsons and the Cowboys' next steps will only intensify.
