'It's his to lose' Dylan Fairchild starts at left guard in Bengals' preseason opener

Bengals rookie offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild was the Bengals' third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Cincinnati Bengals rookie offensive lineman Dylan Fairchild started at left guard for the NFL preseason game against the Eagles at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, and Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin suggested during the broadcast that the starting job is his to lose.

Tobin was interviewed during the second quarter.

Fairchild was the Bengals' third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, reuniting him on the offensive line with former Georgia Bulldogs teammate Amarius Mims.

Fairchild, a two-time state champion wrestler in high school, said Mims, the Bengals' first-round draft pick in 2024, gave him his nickname, "Pickle."

The 6-foot-5, 318-pound Fairchild played three seasons on Georgia's offensive line after redshirting as a freshman. The Bulldogs won back-to-back CFP national championships in Fairchild's first two seasons in Athens. Fairchild played as a reserve for those seasons, and became a starter his junior season.
