Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham just posted a video on TikTok that is likely going viral.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s road game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Cunningham and teammate Lexie Hull had some fun under the sun. The former took to social media to share a video of their poolside shenanigans, which has, as of writing, already amassed over 220,000 views in an hour.

Caitlin Clark, who will be forced to sit out for an eighth consecutive game on Tuesday due to a lingering groin issue, could not let the new TikTok video pass without chiming in.

In the post, Cunningham made a public plea to potentially link up with any swimsuit brand out there that is willing to get her and Hull as endorsers.

“We are off to our game tonight. Convince us there’s a swimsuit brand that wants to partner with two Indiana Fever mermaids,” Cunningham wrote.

Clark quickly shut down Cunningham’s request.

“Swimsuit brands plz comment ‘focus on basketball,’” replied the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year.

In another comment, Clark hilariously predicted that Cunningham’s plea would fall on deaf ears.

“And no one responds,” Clark wrote.

Cunningham Has Been on a Tear

To be fair to Cunningham, she has, indeed, been very focused on her basketball of late. Despite her extracurricular activities off the court — including launching her own podcast — the veteran guard has been tearing it up for the Fever.

Fever head coach Stephanie White has inserted Cunningham into the starting lineup amid Clark’s injury and she has responded with averages of  11.7 points on 56.3% shooting, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 steals in the last seven games.

Cunningham has also been a potent threat from beyond the arc, knocking down 2.3 triples per game on a 56.3% clip.

Clark Has No Timetable

Cunningham will likely remain in the starting five as long as Clark is sidelined.

It remains unclear at this point when the Fever’s cornerstone superstar will suit up again with no timetable yet for her return.

It is important to note that this same groin injury cost Clark five games in June and July, including Indiana’s Commissioner’s Cup championship win against the Minnesota Lynx. She was able to return to play for four games before re-aggravating the injury.

The Fever are now being very cautious in bringing her back — and rightfully so. The last thing they want is a potentially catastrophic third occurrence of this soft tissue injury.
