The Golden State Warriors might be up to something. While many believe that they are going to keep Jonathan Kuminga and enter next season with a similar roster to last year, that may not be the case. A recent report indicates that the Warriors have shown interest in one young star, which could mean a Warriors trade is in the works.

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line recently reported that the Warriors have shown interest in acquiring Josh Giddey from the Chicago Bulls.

A Warriors-Giddey trade wouldn’t be as complicated as you may think. Giddey is in the same position as Kuminga is right now. He is a restricted free agent that is looking for more money than his current team is willing to offer him. Both he and Kuminga are also struggling to get big offers from other teams around the league.

That’s why the Warriors-Giddey connection is so interesting. If the Warriors were able to make a sign-and-trade with Kuminga and Giddey, it could benefit all sides.

Kuminga would get his way of leaving the Warriors, and Golden State would get someone of real value back.

While Giddey doesn’t have the athleticism or explosiveness of Kuminga, he could fit more seamlessly with the Warriors' roster. Giddey has a much better feel for the game, and his basketball IQ would shine in the Warriors' read-and-react system.

Last season, Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.2 rebounds per game. His three-point shot was also the best of his career at nearly 38%.

The Warriors could really use someone like Giddey. While Kuminga is fairly one-dimensional as a scorer with defensive potential, Giddey can do a bit of everything. Giddey can act as a secondary ball handler with Stephen Curry. He can lead a second unit.

If they could pull off a Warriors-Giddey trade, Golden State needs to consider it. While Giddey might not be perfect, he has shown a lot more promise than Kuminga and would likely fit much better in the Warriors’ offense.
