Texas Tech recruit sends Nation's No. 1 prospect clear message after big news.

Texas Tech's $5.1 Million Recruit Sends Clear Message to Nation's No. 1 Prospect After Big News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been extremely successful when it comes to the 2026 recruiting class, already landing 19 total commitments, ranking No. 2 in the Big 12 and No. 25 in the nation.

The biggest addition in that group is easily five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo, who took full advantage of NIL opportunities, reportedly earning a fully guaranteed three-year $5.1 million deal.

The team is only looking to add more talent for future years, with one name catching their attention being class of 2027 EDGE LaDamion Guyton, who will be announcing his highly anticipated commitment decision on Thursday.

Ojo has quickly made it clear he wants to see the pass rusher wearing the scarlet and black, as he reposted the report of Guyton's announcement date news, saying "Yk the move shock the world twin #WreckEm."

How is Guyton Viewed As a Recruit?

It's no surprise to see Ojo put on his recruiting cap and make his pitch in hopes of bringing Guyton to Texas Tech, because Rivals has him placed as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 player in the nation.

Those ratings are backed up by some strong on-the-field performances, and in the last two seasons for the Savannah Christian Raiders, he's appeared in 20 games, accumulating 134 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Is Texas Tech A Serious Competitor to Land Guyton?

With just two days until making his decision, the Red Raiders are viewed as the favorite to land the pass rusher, with the Rivals recruiting prediction machine giving them a 98.3% chance to come out on top.

Texas Tech is also one of the few schools that Guyton has gotten a close look at throughout the recruiting process, only taking a total of five visits so far, with the latest being in Lubbock on June 22.

What Other Programs Are the Hunt?

Even though they are the favorite, this certainly isn't just some lay-up for head coach Joey McGuire, because when dealing with a recruit of this level, you'll always be in the middle of a heated battle.

This is certainly no exception, with Rivals' Steve Wiltfong reporting that Guyton has been "heavily recruited by the likes of Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee and many others."

On Thursday, however, an answer will officially be revealed, and whoever comes out on top will have a big reason to celebrate.
