Portage County high school golf scores, recaps for Aug. 4-10

Wednesday, August 6

Girls Golf

Southeast 168, Crestview 238

Jessi Mix stepped to the forefront, lifting the Pirates to a 2-0 start with her team-best 40. Mix had plenty of company as Southeast sophomore Sammy Morgan was right behind her with a 41, Emily Morrison added a 43 and Jenni Mix and Aubree Varga closed the scoring with a pair of 44s.

Rootstown 176, Lake Center 217

Ava Miller and Morgan Giebel fired matching 42s, Ella Derr and Camryn Lappe added a 46 apiece and the Rovers moved to 3-1 while setting a new team score record. Derr, Giebel and Lappe all set personal records in the win.

Boys Golf

Streetsboro 179, Twinsburg 183

The Rockets moved to 3-1 thanks to a close win over the Tigers. Streetsboro's Brett Epple earned medalist honors with a 42. Dom Marcini added a 45 for the Rockets while Evan Reger and Brody Sanford had a 46 apiece.

Tuesday, August 5

Girls Golf

MAC Preseason Tournament

Streetsboro led the way locally at the Metro Athletic Conference Preseason Tournament, finishing second. With a team score of 411, the Rockets finished just eight strokes behind champion Cloverleaf. Senior Sarah Czirok led Streetsboro with a 98, while senior Claire Campbell (101) and junior Emma Chamberlain (104) were close behind.

Field didn't qualify for a team score with just three golfers. Senior Kasey Cannon led the Falcons with a 119.

Monday, August 4

Girls Golf

Southeast 165, LaBrae 214

Sammy Morgan led the Pirates with a 39 while the Mix sisters were close behind with Jenni firing a 41 and Jessi carding a 42.
