Just 24 hours ago, NFL players were led to believe that the use of smelling salts was prohibited for the upcoming season.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle made a surprise appearance on NFL Network this Tuesday due "air a grievance" about a memo his team received. The All-Pro said all 32 teams were informed they're prohibited from "providing or supplying ammonia in any form" this fall.

"I honestly just came up here to air a grievance," Kittle said. "Our team got a memo today that smelling salts and ammonia packets were made illegal in the NFL, and I've been distraught all day."

Kittle jokingly said that he thought about retiring after receiving this memo.

Luckily for Kittle, he'll still get to regularly use smelling salts this year.

On Wednesday night, the NFL Player's Association confirmed that players will be allowed to bring their own smelling salts to games this season.

"We were not notified of this club policy change before the memo was sent out," the NFLPA's message said. "To clarify, this policy does not prohibit player use of these substances, but rather it restricts clubs from providing or supplying them in any form. The NFL has confirmed this to us."

After the NFLPA released this statement, Kittle started trending on social media. That's because fans are convinced he's celebrating this news.

"George Kittle doing a happy dance right now," one fan declared.

"BRING YO OWN SALTS WE’RE BACK BABY," a second fan wrote on X.

"This is hilarious in every way," a social media user commented.

"George Kittle walking into the stadium every week pushing a shopping cart with Costco bulk supply of BYO smelling salts," another fan said.

The 49ers will benefit the most from the league's decision since retirement is now off the table for Kittle.

All that Kittle has to do now is remember to bring his own smelling salts to games.
