Colorado Prep Report caught up with Palmer Ridge safety Jake Coyle in this article now!

What have you been doing as of late with off-season workouts?
“I have been doing team workouts 4 days a week at Palmer Ridge and 7v7. In addition, I train at Ground Up Sports Performance doing speed and agility work and defensive back work with owners Jordan Bernstein and Mike Bollio. I also work with Dustin Greenwood at Elite Speed in Denver.”

What do you feel you have improved on most this off-season?
“I have put on about 15 pounds of muscle so my speed and strength are improved a lot. I also have been working on my pass coverage and technique.”

How do you feel your team will do this football season?
“We have a lot of returning starters, an amazing coaching staff, and an off-season program all led by Head Coach Zach Carlton. I feel we are set up for a great season if we can put it all together. We had some great progress at our team camp at UNC in June.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We have a tough schedule with Ponderosa, Mesa Ridge, Vista Ridge and Durango and everyone always has their eyes set to take out Palmer Ridge. If I were to pick one team I would say Mesa Ridge after a tough loss last season to them in the regular season for some payback.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Kobe Dooley at Mesa Ridge.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes I have always wanted to play college football and have been playing since the second grade.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I have had a lot of junior day and camp invites and I am thankful to all the schools that have shown interest. It’s a long process. Most of the interest is still in the early stages.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I would say it is too early in my recruiting journey to say one particular team. I’m thankful to all of the schools that have shown interest and I’m hopeful to get more traction in the fall after I can put together some senior film.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I went to Washburn University and CSU-P for a Junior Day event.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I have no college visits scheduled but I do plan on several camps going forward. I also hope to make some games in the Fall.”

Have you done any camps this off-season? How do you feel you performed?
“I have been to several camps: Team camp at UNC, Chadron State, Washburn University, North Dakota State University, and University of Northern Colorado Mega Camp. I believe I competed well in position drills and 1 on 1s. I love the competition and seeing how I stack up to other talent. I am always working to get bigger, faster and stronger.”

Do you have any plans for camps ahead?
“I have tentative plans for CSU-P, Northern State University, South Dakota Mines, Black Hills State and possibly Montana or Drake.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I am a Colorado Springs kid so I grew up going to Air Force games but I always loved all the Colorado teams.”
