Bo Ogden has UVa among his finalists as his recruitment heads into the stretch run.

Bo Ogden, the number 45 overall prospect in the 2026 class, has trimmed his recruitment down to six schools, with Virginia making the cut alongside Texas, Gonzaga, Kansas, Tennessee, and Purdue.

“I really like the coaching staff at Virginia,” Ogden told CavsCorner. “I’ve built a strong relationship with them. They’ve done a great job recruiting me and see me as a true combo guard who can handle the ball in their system. Plus, the academics at Virginia are top-tier, so it makes a lot of sense. I really like them.”

Ogden is familiar with the success Virginia head coach Ryan Odom and his staff have had at previous stops, which adds to the appeal.

“Coach Odom and his staff have been very successful,” he said. “He had a strong run at VCU, and before that, he did great things at Utah State. I’ve seen how he builds teams and develops players, and I expect the same at Virginia.”

The way Odom uses his guards also stands out to Ogden, who sees a natural fit in that system.

“I really like how Coach Odom gives his guards freedom,” Ogden said. “They’re allowed to create for others and play off-ball screens, which is something I focused on a lot this past summer. Their combo guards also move well without the ball, and that’s something I’m comfortable doing, too.”

One of the strongest challengers for Ogden’s commitment is Texas, where his father, Chris Ogden, serves as general manager.

“Coach Miller and his staff got here this spring, and it has been good to build a relationship with them. Coach Miller’s system is very impressive with three guards, and all three guards do everything, and with them just being in my hometown, it is very appealing to stay at home and be that hometown guy.”

Purdue has been the most consistent presence in Ogden’s recruitment.

Purdue has been recruiting me the longest out of anybody, and the fit there is perfect. They have had many guys like me, and they think I would be able to make an impact early, and overall they think I can just be a good player for them.”

Gonzaga also holds a special place in Ogden’s heart, dating back to his childhood.

“I really like the fit there. They have had guys like Corey Kispert, Julian Stawther, and just those bigger guards that they have had success with and just the amount of pros they have had is really impressive. When I was younger, I always really liked Gonzaga a lot. It was always a school I really loved because of how they played and the offense they ran, so they are definitely a good option.”

Kansas made the final six in part because of their track record with guards who fit Ogden’s mold.

“They have had those bigger guard types like me, so the fit would be really good. Coach Bill Self has developed a lot of guys that have gotten to the league, which is my ultimate goal, so just seeing that is something to really think about.”

Tennessee, led by longtime family connection Rick Barnes, is also firmly in the mix.

Coach Barnes is like my grandfather, as my dad played for him. I really like the system Coach Barnes runs, and I really like Coach Barnes as a person and a coach. They have had guys like Dalton Knecht, Chaz Lanier, and those types of players, and that is appealing. I used to live in Knoxville, so I love that town.”

So far, Ogden has taken one official visit to Purdue and is scheduled to visit Virginia from September 25–27. He’s working on setting up visits to his other finalists.

Looking ahead, Ogden intends to wrap up his recruitment before the early signing period.

“I have always said that I want to sign in the early signing period in November so the decision will have to be before that.”
