The Indiana Fever are playing as well as any team in the WNBA. After beating the Seattle Storm 78-74 on Sunday, on the road, the Fever have now won five consecutive games. They currently hold the longest winning-streak in the league.
And the most impressive part is they're playing stellar basketball without their superstar, Caitlin Clark. Clark has now missed seven straight games and 16 games overall this season due to a nagging, right groin injury.
Despite Clark's absence, the rest of the roster continues to step up with monster performances across the board. On Sunday, All-Star center, Aliyah Boston, posted her sixth consecutive double-double. She passed Clark for the longest streak in franchise history, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
And Fever sensation, Sophie Cunningham, found herself in the starting lineup against the Storm. She returned the favor by dropping 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, including going 4-for-5 from 3-point range.
While many tuned in for the Fever's impressive performance on ABC on Sunday, one legend was incredibly impressed.
Dick Vitale, famed basketball commentator, made a bold Clark, Fever prediction following the team's victory, on his official X account.
"Warched the @IndianaFever win 78-74 their 5th straight (now 17-12) vs a good @seattlestorm team. Love the tv call by @RyanRuocco@RebeccaLobo@sportsiren. If @CaitlinClark22 gets injury free The Fever will a legit contender to win the @WNBA championship. @StephanieWhite ‘s energy is contagious !" Vitale posted.

While the Fever have been playing well during their five-game winning-streak, Vitale believes he saw something during their win over a solid, Storm team, that is 16-13 on the season (sixth place), that's launched them back into championship contention.
Vitale believes if Clark can return, and stay healthy, this Fever team will be legitimate WNBA championship contenders.
As per FanDuel Sportsbook, the Fever stand as the fourth favorite to win the WNBA championship (plus-1100). They trail the New York Liberty (18-10) by just 1.5 games for second place, however, they're a full seven games back of the Minnesota Lynx who hold the best record in the league (24-5).
Clark still has no official timetable for return, but her next opportunity will come when the Fever take on Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks, on the road, on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. EDT.
