The Florida State men’s basketball staff has enjoyed a good deal of momentum on the recruiting trail recently, highlighted by the commitment of four-star center Marcis Ponder, and the Seminoles are continuing to build on that by adding another top-100 official visitor for the fall.
Four-star small forward Jalan Wingfield tells Warchant he will officially visit Tallahassee for the Oct. 3-5 weekend for a Florida State football showdown with Miami.
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Wingfield is the 99th-best recruit in his class and the seventh-best player in Georgia.
Wingfield recently announced his list of top schools, which included Auburn, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State and Florida State.
The trip to Tallahassee will be a bit of a homecoming for the 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward as he is originally from Thomasville, Ga., less than an hour north of campus. Before transferring to Tri-Cities in Atlanta, Wingfield attended Thomas County Central, the alma mater of Charlie Ward.
This will be the forward’s second visit to Florida State during his recruitment, as he was first offered back when Leonard Hamilton was head coach and visited in October 2023.
Wingfield is the ninth blue-chip recruit in the 2026 cycle to set a visit to Florida State. Most of them will be visiting for FSU’s football season opener against Alabama on Aug. 30.

The only other official visit Wingfield has set is to Georgia Tech later this month.
Rivals’ Joe Tipton also reported on Tuesday that two more highly touted prospects have set up official visits to FSU — four-star forwards Gavin Placide and Gallagher Placide. The Colorado twins will visit FSU on Sept. 12.
They will also visit N.C. State, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, LSU and Kansas.
Gavin is listed as a small forward by Rivals and is the 33rd-ranked player in the class. Gallagher is the 67th-best player in the 2026 class and the 12th-best forward.
Both players are 6-foot-9, but Gavin weighs 10 pounds more than Gallagher at 225.
