Boston earns a new nickname.
Aliyah Boston Earns New Nickname From Indiana Fever Teammate After Historic Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Sunday afternoon’s clash at Climate Pledge Arena saw the Indiana Fever (17-12) notch a 78–74 victory over the Seattle Storm (16-13).
The balanced win featured key performances from veterans Natasha Howard (21 points, five rebounds, five assists) and Sophie Cunningham (17 points, five rebounds).
However, the headliner was Aliyah Boston, who notched her sixth straight double-double in what was Indiana's fifth straight win, all without Caitlin Clark.
By pouring in 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, Boston broke the Fever’s franchise record for consecutive double-doubles, surpassing the previous mark of five.
Howard captured the moment on X, reacting to the franchise’s post with a new nickname for Boston, calling her "Our Double Double queen ❤️🔥."

The Aliyah Boston, Natasha Howard Connection
Since being drafted first overall in 2023, Boston has been the Fever’s cornerstone, unanimously winning 2023 Rookie of the Year and earning All-Star nods in each of her first three seasons in the league.
This season, Boston is enjoying arguably her best year yet, averaging a career-high 15.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 30.2 minutes per game while shooting 54.7% from the field.
Howard, meanwhile, was the Fever's 5th overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. After spending her first 11 seasons between the Fever, Seattle, Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty and Dallas Wings, she returned to Indiana in February on a one-year deal.
Over her career, she's won three WNBA titles, made two All-Star teams, two All-Defensive first team selections, All-WNBA first team honors and league Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.
While Howard's numbers have dipped slightly from last season, she remains a vital veteran presence and mentor for Boston, forming one of the WNBA's lethal front-court duos.
Looking Ahead for the Indiana Fever
Boston’s record streak and the Howard–Boston tandem have elevated Indiana’s inside presence and kept the Fever afloat amid a critical point in the season.
Amid Boston's streak, Indiana has enjoyed a winning stretch of its own and now finds itself five games above .500, just 1.5 games back of the top-seeded New York Liberty and one game back of the Atlanta Dream in the Eastern Conference.
Most surprising of all is that nine of their 17 wins (including the last five) have been without Clark.
With just over a month remaining in the regular season and still no timetable set for Clark's return, every win is critical.
Indiana's next test will come on Tuesday in a road matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks.
