The Minnesota Twins completed a fire sale at the trade deadline, shipping off a massive package of MLB talent at the deadline to free up money and reshape their organization.
Amid the fire sale, the Houston Astros were able to reunite with franchise icon Carlos Correa. But, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, for one Minnesota Twins player, All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton, Correa's departure stung.
"(Derek) Falvey also sued the meeting to conduct a wellness check on Buxton after the veteran endured a 'heartbreaking' day seeing eight teammates traded on Thursday," Hayes writes, "including close friend Carlos Correa."
The departure of Correa, a close friend, was heartbreaking for Buxton. While the Twins' fire sale will help the team get sold, the short-term impact is frustrating for Twins fans and Buxton as well.
Seeing Correa, who expressed his love for Minnesota and the Twins amid the trade rumors before the deadline, depart was a tough blow for Correa amid the team's massive fire sale.
While the Astros benefited from the Twins' fire sale, the players and fan base in Minnesota suffered from the huge group of players departing at the deadline.

Buxton himself was the subject of trade rumors and inquiries, but he expressed a willingness to stay in Minnesota, where he's played his entire career. He would've used his no-trade clause for any trade, no matter the team.
While Correa also had a full no-trade clause and was intending to use it, there was one team for which he expressed a willingness to waive it: The Houston Astros.
After negotiations, the Astros bought back Correa for a minor league pitcher, taking on $70 million of the remaining $103 million owed to Correa.
He helped the Twins save the most money at the deadline, and unfortunately for Buxton, Correa's trade was one of the most important of the deadline for the Twins.
The departure of Correa from the Twins was a heartbreaking move amid many heartbreaking moves for Buxton. Correa was a close friend, and among the 10 players the Twins dealt, his departure was one of the toughest for Buxton to deal with.
