Liverpool and new manager Arne Slot have been dealt early setback just days before their Community Shield showdown against Crystal Palace and the Premier League opener.

Key Absences in Bilbao Friendly

The Reds are currently facing Athletic Bilbao in pre season friendly at Anfield but the squad's notably missing several key names. Virgil van Dijk, the team captain is sidelined due to illness. Also absent are Alisson Becker, Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley.

Slot told Liverpool's official site:

"Almost everyone's fit and maintaining good shape but sadly Virgil's sick today. We're also without Alisson, Gomez and Bradley"

When asked if this quartet could miss the 10 Aug clash at Wembley or the opening league fixture against Bournemouth, Slot responded:
