Sanders excels but now battles shoulder soreness.
Concerning News Emerges on Shedeur Sanders Amid Browns Quarterback Competition originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Shedeur Sanders has worked hard to prove doubters wrong over the past three months after his drastic fall in the draft. He put up incredible numbers at Colorado last year, but he's battling for a roster spot now with the Cleveland Browns.
According to recent reports out of Ohio, Sanders has played consistently well during training camp. Though he isn’t yet in contention for the QB1 role — which in all likelihood will go to a veteran — he’s definitely in the mix as a backup.
But on Saturday, concerning news emerged: Sanders appeared to have overworked his shoulders and arms and is now suffering from soreness after the most recent practice, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Though not a major issue, it surely puts a stop to his practice momentum.
Sanders wasn’t alone, though. Kenny Pickett also missed drills due to a hamstring issue. Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel stepped in for the drills and each threw a touchdown.
Cabot writes, “Kenny Pickett says he’s still as determined as ever to win the starting job. He feels the hamstring is a definite setback, and he hopes to get back as soon as possible.”
Dillon Gabriel is Making Headlines For the Wrong Reasons
Gabriel made headlines after Day 8 of training camp for his underwhelming performance. He was able to find players only three times out of 14 attempts. He also failed to find a touchdown.

Since then, fans have loudly complained about Gabriel’s poor performance, placing Sanders ahead of him on the depth chart. But most are overlooking one point: Gabriel’s missed passes also underscore the Cleveland Browns’ strong defense.
