The Dallas Cowboys have handled the Micah Parsons situation about as poorly as possible. Parsons is supposed to be one of the faces of the franchise, but all team owner Jerry Jones has done is upset him.
“The fact that Jerry Jones and the Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz posted.
Because of this, Parsons decided to request a trade from the organization.
“Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally,” Parsons posted.
However, Jones seems unwilling to trade Parsons. If he refuses, Parsons could take a bold step.
“For a player in the last year of his contract, his obligation ends with the final game of the regular season. Which means that he can walk out at the start of the postseason (or at any point during the playoffs) with no contractual consequence,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio wrote. “It’s one thing for Micah Parsons to request a trade. It’s quite another for Parsons to say that, without a new contract, he’ll refuse to play in the playoffs. That he’ll do everything in his power to help the Cowboys qualify, but that unless the Cowboys give him the contract they’ve failed to give him since the conclusion of his third regular season, he will not be playing.”

If the Cowboys do decide to trade Parsons, NFL.com’s Eric Edholm believes a deal with the Bears could be on the table.
“Parsons opposite Montez Sweat, with all the Bears’ other defensive line talent, would be a problem for offenses. Along with some quality back-seven players, it might be Chicago’s best defense since at least 2018,” Edholm wrote.
While the Bears’ offense is struggling to put the pieces together, a strong defense can carry a team. Having two monsters on the line in Sweat and Parsons would be a literal nightmare for opponents. If the Bears have the financial resources to make this deal happen, it’s a move GM Ryan Poles should seriously consider. This trade could change the outlook of the Bears organization.
