After a match rich in goals and chances for both sides, the Rouge et Blanc held on against Ajax Amsterdam at the Johan Cruyff ArenA (2-2), thus maintaining their unbeaten record.
The unbeaten run continues for this preseason. In a sold-out Johan Cruyff ArenA, AS Monaco held Ajax Amsterdam to a draw in their seventh match (2-2). Now with a record of five wins and two draws, the Rouge et Blanc will conclude their preseason on Friday (8 p.m.) at the Stade Louis-II with a clash against Inter Milan. Recap. ✍️
Monégasque dominance
At kick-off of this match, to which around a hundred Monegasques supporters had made the trip, Adi Hütter lined up a 4-4-2 with an attacking duo composed of Folarin Balogun and Mika Biereth. Our Rouge et Blanc dominated the start of the match and Jordan Teze, on a cross from Caio Henrique, just missed with a shot at the far post (5′). Then, the American striker, found with a long ball, stumbled against Vitezslav Jaros (10′), as did Lamine Camara, whose long-range shot was saved with a diving effort (16′).

Mika “The Fox” levels the match
The match was then balanced and it took a great Philipp Köhn, who used his foot to win his duel against Raul Moro (24′) to keep things scoreless. However, he could do nothing a few minutes later against Kenneth Taylor, who opened the scoring from close range (29′). Despite this goal, Adi Hütter’s men got forward again and Mika Biereth, on a fine pass from his left back, scored from inside the six-yard box — a typical a fox in the box finis (34′), marking his fourth goal of preseason.

The two teams were thus level at the break, and the second half was slow to get going… until Jordan Teze’s perfect cross, which ended up in the six-yard box where Takumi Minamino was waiting. The Japanese player slipped the ball home to give AS Monaco the lead (65′), scoring his first goal of the preseason.

Following this, the Monaco coach made several substitutions, notably the introductions of George Ilenikena and Paris Brunner (66′), who quickly made their mark, but both forwards lacked the finishing touch (73′, 74′).
Inter Milan to end the preseason
In the waning moments, Ajax finished the match better, and Bertrand Traoré leveled the score in the final minutes (87′). In great form since coming on, the former Lyon player came close to giving his team the victory, but his shot fortunately missed Köhn’s goal (91′).
It was the final chanceof the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, allowing the Rouge et Blanc to maintain their unbeaten preseason (five wins, two draws). They now have their eyes fixed on Inter Milan, Friday (8 p.m.) at the Stade Louis-II, as a final preparation before the resumption of Ligue 1.
