Cowboys Become a League-Wide Joke After Mishandling Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys have quickly become a joke across the NFL.

Cowboys Become a League-Wide Joke After Mishandling Micah Parsons originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

On the first day of August, the Dallas Cowboys are once again the talk of the NFL, although not for good reasons.

The franchise has been in discussions with superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons as he hoped to earn a new contract. However, the Cowboys star officially requested a trade on Friday.

The Pro Bowl linebacker took to X and said, “Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here.”

He also added that there were "close door negotiations without my agent present" while discussing a contract, and that didn't sit well with Parsons.

Despite the request, it seems the Cowboys have no intentions of trading him, although that won't stop teams from gauging his price point.

With that being said, the Cowboys have quickly become a laughingstock of the NFL for the way they handled this Parsons ordeal.

NFL Executives Laughing After Cowboys' Mishap

NFL reporter Jordan Schultz took to X with a series of messages and pointed out a clear fact: Executives are laughing at the Cowboys.

"Micah Parsons gave the #Cowboys everything — leadership, production, passion. And now he’s asking out because Jerry Jones and the front office played games instead of paying their best player and taking a negotiation seriously. Embarrassing. And other teams and executives are laughing at this," Schultz wrote on X.

One NFC executive even texted Schultz, "lmao I love this."

And Schultz himself laid into Dallas with a blunt statement.

"The fact that Jerry Jones and the #Cowboys believe they can negotiate a 9-figure extension with Micah Parsons without involving his agent says everything about the current state of the franchise. This entire situation is laughable from the Dallas side. It could’ve — and should’ve — been avoided. But instead, the Cowboys’ operated with pure arrogance, foolishness and stubbornness."

Pro Football Talk also chimed in on the ordeal: "I've been saying it for more than a year. When it comes to paying their key players, the Cowboys are cheap, short-sighted, and not nearly as smart as they think they are."

What Are Parsons' Teammates Saying After the Request?

As expected, the fallout has been heavy since Parsons made his official request.

His teammate, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, posted on Instagram, writing "SMH."

Lamb also took to X and called out the franchise with a blunt statement.

“Never fails dawg. Just pay the man, what you owe em. No need for the extra curricular.”

Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown had also made Parsons his new X profile picture on Friday, although that came before the official request was made.

It's not a surprise that teammates are unhappy, especially given how much talent Parsons brings to the field.

Now, the entire NFL world waits to see where Parsons goes, or if Dallas finally budges and gives him a new deal.
