LA Rams are cooking!
'It's Scary': Former NFL LB Makes Eye-Opening Remark on Davante Adams Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Los Angeles Rams have become a perennial contender under Sean McVay. Every year, they make certain moves that leave the NFL thinking about how they manage to put together a solid roster year after year.
This year as well, they have again made the move of trading for Davante Adams from the Jets, to bolster their wide receiver room that saw the exit of star Cooper Kupp.
However, they still had Puka Nacua, and now they have yet again given 37-year-old Matthew Stafford solid weapons to make a deep run, both in a game and in the season.
Former NFL linebacker Manti Te'o spoke about the masterful move that Rams GM Les Snead and Coach McVay have pulled off, which not only compensates for Kupp's loss but actually adds another advantage.
Appearing on 'The Rich Eisen Show', Te'o explained, "That signing of Davante Adams is probably one of the most dangerous signings for a defensive player to go against an offense."
He added, "Well, if you look at Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, what they had before — they play the same position. So it's hard to divi up shares when you have the guy that plays the same position… Now you have Davante Adams, a true X receiver, one of the best ever. Now you have what the Cincinnati Bengals have in Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase."
The Rams have the luxury to play them on both sides and leverage the coverage on one of them, using fakes on both sides down the field. It can cause some serious mismatches for the defense.
Te'o went on to point out that if the defense decides to play two deep Safeties, they still can get overwhelmed by the running back Kyren Williams.
He concluded by saying, "If you have that dynamic with Matt Stafford at the helm, it's scary!"
The Los Angeles Rams kick off their season on September 7, against the Houston Texans.
