Eagles pay homage to new Phillies closer Jhoan Duran

This is pretty cool cross-sport synergy.

The Philadelphia Eagles noticed.

When the Philadelphia Phillies' new trade deadline acquisition, closer Jhoan Duran, entered for his home debut at Citizens Bank Park, it turned into a light show accompanied about an electric tune.

That song, El Incomprendido, had Phillies fans fired up and helped Duran to finish off the save in his first game in Philadelphia after coming over from the Minnesota Twins.

The Eagles paid homage to that already. In their practice playlist on Sunday: El Incomprendido.

The Athletic's Zach Berman provided Philly sports fans with that key update.

It's a really cool example of the way that sports teams in these major cities can support one another.

Duran was a massive pickup for Philadelphia. He was, at worst, the second-best relief pitcher traded before MLB's July 31, 6 p.m. ET deadline (with A's closer Mason Miller going to the Padres as the other candidate in that category).

The big righty Duran throws a pitch called a splinker that can touch 100 miles per hour and drop off the table as a combination splitter-sinker.

The Phillies' bullpen has been an issue all season. Jose Alvarado was handed an 80-game suspension in the early going, and it's been all downhill from there.

But now with Duran, the Phillies believe wholeheartedly they can close games out again.

That's especially true after a heart-pounding entrance that can get a whole ballpark to its feet.

It'd be cool if the Eagles got Duran out to a practice sometime. He certainly looks like he could play tight end.

He is a bit busy right now, though. There are wins to close out and a playoff triumph to chase. After all, the Eagles just won the Super Bowl. The Phillies are trying to live up to that bar.
