Sky Germany’s Philipp Hinze reports that RB Leipzig are preparing for the departure of Benjamin Sesko by intensifying their efforts to sign a replacement. Hinze notes that Leipzig have reached a verbal agreement with 23-year-old Göztepe forward Romulo. Die Roten Bullen are also keeping tabs on Wolves striker Fabio Silva.
It is conceivable that Leipzig could sign both forwards, with the club keen to offload high-earners Andre Silva and Timo Werner. Silva is eager to return to Werder Bremen, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Weserstadion. Werner, meanwhile, has been told he won’t play for Leipzig again. Departures of both players would free up a significant proportion of the wage budget, which could be used to fund moves for both Romulo and Fabio Silva.
Leipzig rejected Newcastle’s opening bid for Sesko, which amounted to a total of €80m. The club is seeking more than the €5m offered in bonus payments to part ways the Slovenian forward.
