Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona from Manchester United last week, but as of yet, he has not been registered with La Liga – which means that he is currently ineligible to face Mallorca on MD1.

Sales are needed before the Catalans raised the funds required to register Rashford – and fellow new signing Joan Garcia. However, the English forward is confident that he will be able to face Mallorca in two weeks’ time, as he told the media on Sunday (via MD).

“No, I think it’s something the club needs to figure out, and I’m confident it’s going to happen. I’m focused on training and being ready for the start of the season.”

Rashford outlines Champions League ambitions

Rashford also revealed that he is happen to be used in a versatile role during the upcoming season, while he also made it clear that his aim is to help Barcelona win the 2025-26 Champions League.

“I can play in different positions, score goals from all areas of the field, it’s about being able to score from different areas, and hopefully we can take a step further than last year and try to win the Champions League. Every player wants to win it. Last year was fantastic, and now we have to try to recreate it and improve it by winning it.

“There are a lot of great players here, but I knew that before I came. The quality is very high and the intensity is very high, and that’s what we need to maintain throughout the season.”

It would not be a disaster for Barcelona if Rashford were to miss out against Mallorca, with Garcia’s registration being more pressing. However, they will need to get a move on to ensure that he is registered by the time the summer transfer window closes at the start of September.
