Alexander Isak is returning to England and is set to resume training with Newcastle United, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein

The 25-year-old has been training alone at his former club Real Sociedad’s headquarters after refusing to join the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia. But now he is set to return to training at Newcastle.

Isak has been actively pushing to leave St James’ Park this summer amid huge interest from Liverpool.

The Premier League champions recently had a £110 million bid rejected for the Sweden international.

It is said that they will not submit an offer again unless Newcastle change their stance.

Eddie Howe’s side have attempted to tie the striker to an improved contract, but the player is not interested in staying at the club.

Isak is currently regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe. He scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season, second only to Mohamed Salah.

Newcastle do not want to sell, but they are facing the risk of keeping an unhappy player for next season.

The Tyneside club are trying to line up a replacement for Isak, should he leave.

They submitted a £70m bid for Benjamin Sesko, but that was turned down by RB Leipzig

Manchester United are also keen on Sesko, who is said to be considering all his options.
