The Texas Longhorns football program began fall camp this week.
Much of the media attention has been centered around quarterback phenom Arch Manning and the many new faces on the roster this season. Texas brought in the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the nation for the 2025 cycle and signed 11 transfers via the portal.
However, second-year wide receiver Ryan Wingo was the talk of practice on Thursday. That's because he wasn't there. Kirk Bohls of the Houston Chronicle was the first to report that it did not appear Wingo was present at practice.
Wingo and fellow offensive lineman DJ Campbell reportedly missed practice due to personal reasons.
Wingo is expected to be Texas' No. 1 or No. 2 wide receiver this season alongside veteran DeAndre Moore. As a true freshman in 2024, Wingo recorded 29 receptions for 472 yards and two touchdowns. He exploded for a few big runs as well, totaling 100 rushing yards on five carries.
Texas' season opener is a little under a month away. The Longhorns will open the season in Columbus against Ohio State on Aug. 30. It is expected to be a massive nonconference matchup featuring two of the top three teams in the country.
