The Yankees pulled the trigger on yet another reliever trade in the final minutes of the MLB trade deadline, trading for Giants closer Camilo Doval to shore up their bullpen.

The return for Doval was Yankees' No. 19 prospect Trystan Vierling, a right-handed pitcher, No. 25 prospect Jesus Rodriguez, a catcher/third baseman, and Parks Harber, an unranked third base prospect, according to YES Network insider Jack Curry.

Doval, who has 15 saves and a 3.09 ERA, joins David Bednar and Jake Bird as additions to a suddenly strong Yankees bullpen which already had Devin Williams and Luke Weaver.

Yankees brass including Brian Cashman were well aware and firm in their commitment to improving the many holes in the Yankees' roster, but the trade for Doval certainly came out of left field, pun not intended.

Yankees' manager Aaron Boone now has to choose between Doval and Bednar to wrap up games, with Weaver and Williams likely reduced to the roles of set-up men.

The Yankees' bullpen ERA has skyrocketed in the last month as the Yankees have continued to slide, but the three marquee relief pitching signings shows how seriously the Yankees took arguably the most pressing issue in their squad.

Prior to the trades for Bird, Bednar and Doval, the Yankees were reportedly considering adding hard-throwing starter Cam Schlittler to the bullpen, but that clearly won't be necessarily. Schlittler, the Yankees' No. 3 prospect, will likely get the opportunity to hone his craft in the rotation even as Luis Gil returns on Sunday.
