The New York Knicks have been very active this offseason as they have focused on upgrading their bench after struggling with their depth last season.

Despite their struggles last season, New York was still able to reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000 and with the East being wide open entering next season due to many injuries, the Knicks are one of the favorites to be the top seed.

Of course, the Knicks will have their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges back next season and they also added Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele to their bench this summer.

On Thursday, the Knicks made another massive move as they signed star forward Bridges to a four-year, $150 million contract extension according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Charania also reported that the new deal includes a player option for the 2029-30 season along with a trade kicker and that Bridges also took a discount from his max extension to helpt the Knicks have roster flexibility.

This is a massive move by the Knicks and one that many saw coming after they traded a ton to acquire him last offseason from the Brooklyn Nets.

In the trade last summer, the Knicks sent Bojan Bogdanovic, Shake Milton and multiple draft picks, four of which were unprotected first-round selections.

Now the Knicks have Bridges locked up for the foreseeable future as they continue to chase a championship with their core leading the way.

The 28-year-old forward did struggle at times last season but he ended the season averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field and 35.4% from three-point range.

He also came up huge in the playoffs as he averaged 15.6 points and 1.7 steals per game which included two clutch steals during their second-round series against the Boston Celtics.

Now the Knicks will enter next season with their core all locked up contract wise for the next several seasons as they try to bring a title to New York.
