The Packers are going to have to make roster decisions soon. One of the Packers fan favorites is destined to be one of the ones getting cut.
The Green Bay Packers are shaping up to have an exciting offense this season, and it looks like this could be the year Jordan Love makes a statement. He has endured all the preseason slander and is focused on proving doubters wrong. The Packers’ success will largely depend on how far Jordan Love can take them.
“It’s Jordan Love time. Only one offensive player on the roster (two-time Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins), and three players in total, predate the quarterback’s time with the team. He’s on a top-of-market deal, so the onus is on him to start lifting his teammates rather than the other way around. The roster’s still solid, but competitions at left tackle and receiver will help set the course for how far the team can go, and Love’s work through any bumps at those spots will be key,” SI’sAlbert Breer wrote.
The emergence of Matthew Golden has made it painfully clear that the receiving room is likely to lose a notable face.
“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up," Breer wrote. "It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development."
The first Packers wide receiver expected to be cut is Malik Heath, which will probably break some fans’ hearts.
“The former undrafted free agent is one of the Packers' best success stories in recent years, becoming a regular contributor in the passing game against all odds. He has stepped up with several big-time plays at training camp, but it's simply a numbers game,” Lombardi Ave’s Freddie Boston wrote.

Heath was involved in a terrible accident during his senior season at Mississippi State, and his recovery was long and difficult. Although he has made strides with the Packers, the wide receiver room is simply too crowded now. During his time in Green Bay, Heath has taught many to never give up.
