The Coachella Valley Firebirds have re-signed defenseman Charlie Wright to a one-year deal, it was announced earlier this week.

Wright, who finished his first pro season in 2024-25, split time between the Firebirds and the ECHL's Kansas City Mavericks. Across 21 AHL games, Wright registered four assists while scoring four goals and adding 13 assists for 17 points in 35 ECHL regular season games.

Before joining the Seattle Kraken organization, Wright played his junior hockey in the WHL with the Saskatoon Blades. Across 256 career regular season games, Wright scored 15 goals and added 88 assists for 103 points.

A product of Olds, Alta., Wright played his minor hockey for the Red Deer Rebels and Northern Alberta X-Treme.

With Wright extending with the Firebirds, he will likely spend more time in the AHL this season. A smart, puck-moving defender, Wright's skills translated well in his first year, and he should only continue to grow his game from here on out.
