As Real Madrid gear up for the new season, there is a sense of excitement around the new signings, and rightfully so given the investments they have made across the park.

Two players have already made their debut for the men in white so far – Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Two more, however, are yet to play their first game for the club – Alvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono.

The latter, in particular, comes amidst massive hype and is seen as a strategic long-term bet for Los Blancos with many seeing him as a regular starter already despite his age.

New signing speaks

Speaking to the media ahead of his flight to Spain last night, Mastantuono touched on his move to Real Madrid and the growing excitement in his mind over the impending move.

First, the Argentine player spoke on how he was looking forward to joining his new team and linking up with the squad.

“It’s Real Madrid time? I have been waiting for this day for a long time.”

The player was then asked how it felt following in the footsteps of Alfredo Di Stefano who also played for both River Plate and Real Madrid in his time.

“It’s beautiful to follow Don Alfredo Di Stefano’s path. A legend. I hope to do the same.”

Mastantuono was then asked what number he would wear at Real Madrid and whether he would like the number 10, to which he said,

“Do I want the #10? Sure but if Mbappe has it, he has every right to it,” he added.

“What number will I be wearing at Real Madrid? I don’t know yet.”

Finally, the player signed off by expressing his happiness and excitement once more.

“I can’t wait to be at Real Madrid.”
