Texas Rangers fans are furious over Tuesday's Josh Hamilton news.

When the Texas Rangers celebrate former AL MVP Josh Hamilton on Aug. 9, it’s clear that a portion of the fan base has no plans on entering Globe Life Field that night.
Numerous Rangers fans criticized the club after they announced that Hamilton, a five-time All-Star in Texas, will receive his Rangers Hall of Fame jacket next month. The Rangers previously inducted Hamilton into their Rangers Hall of Fame in 2019.
However, Hamilton’s upcoming honor isn’t without controversy. According to WFAA, a Tarrant County grand jury indicted Hamilton on a felony charge of injury to a child in 2020 following an alleged assault on his daughter.
Hamilton later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful restraint under a plea agreement in 2022.
“Guy [expletive] sucks as a human,” read one X/Twitter post. “That’s why a lot of us don’t care for him.”
Added another: “Holy cow, society just doesn’t care about anything anymore. This is sad to see, have some principles.”
Although some expressed lingering frustration about Hamilton leaving the Rangers for the Los Angeles Angels following the 2012 season, most of the backlash centered around his legal problems.
“The Rangers do know what Josh has done in his personal life, correct?” an X user asked. “I mean they do know who they are propping up and celebrating, correct? The PR department knows this is happening?”
"I can’t root for an [abuser],” read another comment. “I don’t care who they used to play for.”
