ASC Jaraaf: Malick Daf clarifies the situation after his unannounced departure
Malick Daf officially responded this Thursday, July 31, with a statement following the controversy sparked by his departure from ASC Jaraaf. The Senegalese tactician explained the circumstances of his exit and thanked the club for two successful years.
ASC Jaraaf announced earlier this week that it learned of his departure on July 27, three days after Daf officially signed with Teungueth FC. This move to a direct league rival caught the Dakar club's management by surprise, prompting them to speak out. Amid this controversy, the 56-year-old coach sought to clarify the circumstances of his departure from the Dakar club in a statement released on Wednesday.
"In 2023, I signed a two-year contract with ASC Jaraaf. The objectives were to win the national championship, return to the continental stage through the CAF Cup and the African Champions League. Thanks to collective effort, the players' commitment, the support of the staff, and the passion of the fans, these goals were achieved. We won the Senegalese championship and competed honorably in the CAF Cup. Legally, my contract ended the day after the Senegal Cup final, and up to that date, I had received no offer of extension or renewal. Since then, I am no longer contractually tied to the club," Malick Daf wrote in a post published on social media.
In his message, the former Senegal U20 national team coach also expressed his gratitude to president Cheikh Seck, vice-president Youssou Dial, the technical staff, and the supporters of ASC Jaraaf. He praised the quality of his experience with the Dakar club and wished them every success in the future.
