Andreas Christensen delivered a composed and effective performance during Barcelona’s pre-season clash against FC Seoul, despite only featuring in the second half.

In his 45 minutes on the pitch, the Danish defender managed to score a goal, recorded 47 touches, and completed 42 of his 43 attempted passes, boasting an impressive 98% passing accuracy.

He also played a key role in ball progression, making five passes into the final third and one accurate long ball out of two attempts

There is more to it

Defensively, he stood tall, winning both of his tackle attempts (100% success rate), while also contributing one clearance, one interception, and one ball recovery

Christensen was never dispossessed throughout his time on the pitch and won two out of his four aerial duels, giving him a 50% success rate in that area.

Despite a solid display, however, Christensen’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain, and the club has placed him on the transfer list due to the surplus of centre-backs in the squad.

Notably, he is the only defender with just one year left on his contract, and he has not received any offer of renewal, making his departure as a free agent in the summer of 2026 a real possibility.

No distractions for Christensen

Yet, the 29-year-old is not letting the situation affect his mindset. Just as he did during his final season at Chelsea, where he also left on a free, Christensen is refusing to give in to pressure

He has been clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona. Even though he is aware he may not be a first-choice option in defence, he believes he can earn valuable minutes during the season.

Hansi Flick, meanwhile, values Christensen’s profile. The German coach is said to appreciate the defender’s calmness under pressure and ability to bring the ball out from the back, qualities that could still prove useful as the campaign unfolds.

After his performance against FC Seoul, his stocks are expected to rise.
