Real Madrid are in a difficult spot as they prepare for the 2025/26 season. With Kylian Mbappe to be the main striker, the club plans to keep only one backup forward in the squad.
That means either Endrick or Gonzalo Garcia will need to head out on loan this summer. According to AS, the decision has become one of the few remaining issues for the club’s planning.
Both Endrick and Gonzalo are promising young talents, but keeping both wouldn’t be ideal. Real Madrid believe that giving limited playing time to either of them could slow down their progress.
The club is proud of the potential both forwards carry and wants to make sure their growth isn’t held back.
Both want to stay
Endrick, who arrives with great expectations from Brazil, has no intention of leaving, even temporarily. His camp has made it clear to the club that he wants to fight for a place under Xabi Alonso and stay at Real Madrid no matter what.

Gonzalo, on the other hand, impressed everyone at the Club World Cup. His performances earned him a Golden Boot and showed that he has the quality to compete at the highest level.
He has also attracted strong interest from Premier League clubs, thanks to his goal-scoring ability and hunger to prove himself. Xabi Alonso has been particularly impressed by Gonzalo’s commitment and work ethic.
Contract talks and time running out
Real Madrid are currently in talks with Gonzalo over a new contract. That adds another layer of difficulty to the decision.
Letting him go on loan while discussing a long-term future may not sit well with the player or his representatives.
With just a month left in the transfer window, the club must soon decide – will Endrick stay as Mbappe’s backup, or will it be Gonzalo Garcia?
It is a tough call, but one that must be taken.
