Cooper McAslan, 16, was London’s second pick of the 2025 draft, second round (43rd overall), and recently attended Hockey Canada’s U17 summer development camp in Oakville, Ontario. It has been a great week for the young man, culminating in the signing of his OHL deal.

The Bowmanville, Ontario native was the commander on the blueline for the Ajax/Pickering Raiders U16 AAA during the 2024-25 season. He recorded 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) in 20 games and led defensemen on his team in scoring during the playoffs with 8 points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 8 games.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, McAslan possesses a lot of raw physical tools that make him an intriguing prospect, especially as a right-shot defenseman. He moves fluidly laterally and has a strong defensive stick. He’s poised with the puck on his stick and has room to improve in his offensive game.

Owen Miniotas, 16, was drafted in the third round (60th overall), which was a dream come true for the hometown boy who was born in London, Ontario. He recorded 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) in 30 games for the Elgin Middlesex Canucks U16 AAA in the Alliance U16 league during the 2024-25 season. He led his team in points in the Alliance division and tied Sarnia Sting prospect Myles Dunn in total points — tournament production included — on the season with 78 (35 goals, 43 assists).

The six-foot, 161-pound right-shot forward had a quiet 2025 OHL Cup tournament, recording only one assist in four games. Although he didn’t show it, he was a play-driving center for the Canucks last season and plays a detailed, well-rounded game down the middle of the ice.

Miniotas played three games in the GOJHL for the Strathroy Rockets last year and has already signed with the Komoka Kings, where he will presumably play out the majority of the 2025-26 season.

5 OHL First-Round Draft Picks Remain Unsigned, Including The First Overall Pick 5 OHL First-Round Draft Picks Remain Unsigned, Including The First Overall Pick Training camps for the OHL are set to begin in about a month. Teams have been actively signing import players over the past two to three weeks. However, several teams have not yet signed their 2025 first-round draft picks, including two players from the top five. Eloan Le Gallic #96 (Dan Hickling/OHL Images)

Eloan Le Gallic, 16, was drafted two spots after Miniotas, 62nd overall. From Quebec City, the six-foot, 151-pound centerman played in the GTHL for the Vaughan Kings U16 AAA during the 2024-25 season. He recorded 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 33 games, finishing second on the team behind Guelph Storm prospect Carter Lewandowski

Le Gallic had an exceptional OHL Cup, finishing with five goals and eight points in four games. He consistently drove play, using his speed to drive through high-percentage areas, and showcased his incredibly quick release to lead the team in goals. He’s more of a pure goal scorer than a playmaker, and he’ll need to work on being more attentive defensively.

The Knights have now signed their first four selections from the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, with McAslan, Miniotas, and Le Gallic joining first-rounder Alex Campeau as those who have signed.
