Detroit Lions offensive tackle Dan Skipper suffered an injury during the Hall of Fame Game loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night. Here's the latest update on his status.
The Detroit Lions have at least one injury concern following their Hall of Fame Game loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night.
According to Justin Rogers of the Detroit Football Network, swing tackle Dan Skipper suffered a low-ankle sprain on running back Craig Reynolds' 10-yard scamper on the Lions' only touchdown drive of the 34-7 loss.
Skipper, who is also wearing a walking boot following his injury, started the game at left tackle for the Lions.
How long will Dan Skipper be out?
Assuming the early diagnosis is accurate, Skipper shouldn't miss more than a few weeks with the injury.
Had it been a high-ankle sprain, the veteran tackle likely would've been looking at a recovery time of four to six weeks, depending on the severity. That would've put Skipper in danger of missing the start of the season.
Dan Skipper's Impact
Whether it be at left or right tackle, Skipper is the first man off the bench when the Lions need a replacement at either spot.
Losing Skipper for a significant amount of time would be a big blow to the Lions' depth upfront, something the team values even more after being snake-bitten by injuries as a whole in 2024.
That said, it looks like the Lions dodged an early injury bullet.
