The Florida Gators had an incredible month of June on the recruiting trail. Head coach Billy Napier landed commitment after commitment, totaling 12 pledges from high-value recruits for the 2026 class. This included Florida's highest-ranked commit in defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy.

McCoy, a five-star who is the No. 2 defensive end in the country, according to ESPN, announced his commitment to the Gators on June 14. This announcement gave Florida its first five-star recruit of the class.

On Tuesday, Napier and the Gators got some great news, as McCoy announced he is shutting down his recruitment and is 100% committed to the Gators, first reported by Nate Gravender.

McCoy originally committed to Napier's squad over a pair of SEC rivals in the Texas Longhorns and LSU Tigers. Since then, he has been listening to offers from other schools, but ultimately decided that Gainesville will be his home for the foreseeable future.

The 6-foot-7, 250-pound defensive stopper is the No. 9 player in the nation and the No. 1 recruit from the state of Mississippi, according to ESPN. In his high school career thus far, McCoy has totaled 120 tackles, 31.5 tackles-for-loss and 15 sacks, per MaxPreps. Last year, he helped Tupelo High School go 14-0 en route to a 6A state championship victory.

With the help of McCoy, the Gators have the No. 13 recruiting class in the country for 2026 in Rivals' Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. In total, Napier has 18 commits for the class.

Now that McCoy has shut down his recruitment, Napier and Florida can turn their attention to climbing up the team rankings with the 2025 college football season right around the corner.
