During Green Bay Packers training camp on Monday, July 28, offseason addition Nate Hobbs didn't pull back on physicality enough after head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to him on Sunday. After a few hits during non-padded practice, like taking down Dontayvion Wicks on Friday, LaFleur told the cornerback to take it down a notch or two with the aggressiveness. While Hobbs' physicality is what general manager Brian Gutekunst and the head coach hopes spreads to other Packers, LaFleur doesn't want to see his players unnecessarily get hurt before the season even starts.

However, another incident occurred one day after their talk and LaFleur had to make a decision.
Hobbs took MarShawn Lloyd to the ground in Green Bay's first padded practice. The cornerback went low as he expected the running back to do, but when he didn't, Hobbs hit his legs and kept him down longer than anticipated.
According to ESPN's Rob Demozsky, LaFleur "briefly pulled Hobbs out of Monday's practice" due to the hit. Hobbs said he understood why he was taken out for a series.
"[LaFleur] sat me for a second, put me in timeout," Hobbs said. "Let me think about my decisions. And I thought about it real good . . . It wasn't an intentional decision like, 'Oh, I'm going to tackle him.'"
Lloyd limped off the field; however, LaFleur watched film back and saw that as the running back went to change directions, he didn't plant his leg and caused a groin injury before the Hobbs collision. He remained on the sidelines for the rest of practice and Gutekunst said that Lloyd's momentary absence should not be a concern.
"I told [Lloyd], 'Man, it's all love, bro,'" Hobbs said. "It was truly, truly an accident and next time I'll tag off on him and let him go about his way."
