For quite some time, rumors were swirling around that Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders may step away from the team as he dealt with a mysterious health concern, which even caused him to miss time during spring practices.

However, that was all squashed on Monday during a press conference as it was revealed he'd undergone bladder removal surgery to take out a tumor and has since been cured of cancer.

Now, he is using that great news and his once again cemented position with the team to push a message to potential recruits as Colorado looks to land some talented players.

Sanders Makes Things Very Clear for Recruits

With his health now trending upward, Sanders was able to attend Colorado's practice on Tuesday, and in a video posted by the team's official X account, he had something to say to anyone interested in joining up.

"Recruits, recruits, recruits, yeah it's me," Sanders said. "Yeah, it's me, I ain't going nowhere. Still here, you know why? I'm waiting on you, waiting on mom, waiting on pops, waiting on unc, I'm waiting on grandad, I'm waiting on whoever is handling things, I'm waiting on you. Stop believing them lies, stop believing them lies. They going to talk because that's all they know how to do, but guess what? God's got me, baby, and I want you."

It's obviously a powerful thing to say for someone who just two days ago told reporters, "I didn't stare death in the face. I stared life in the face."

Colorado Needs A Big Recruiting Boost

For the Buffaloes, there's hope that this message from Sanders himself can help the team on the recruiting road, because when it comes to the 2026 class, there's really not too much to brag about.

Colorado has landed just a total of nine commitments, as their group ranks No. 16 in the Big 12 (last place) and No. 69 in the nation, with only three of these players being labeled as four-star recruits by Rivals Industry Rankings.

Sanders has a proven ability when it comes to landing talented high school players, too, as his 2025 class ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 and No. 35 in the nation, with the biggest piece being the No. 7 quarterback Julian Lewis.

Sanders Could Soon Receive Exciting News

Colorado may soon land multiple players, though, as the Rivals recruiting prediction machine gives the best chance to land three-star interior offensive lineman Ben Gula (95.9 percent) and the second-best chance for unranked wide receiver Jewellz Parm (15.2 percent).
