As the college football offseason continues to chug along, many teams are now putting focus on players in the 2027 recruiting class with the contact period opening on June 15.

One player who is garnering a lot of interest is four-star safety Tory Pittman, out of Omaha, Nebraska, who has received offers from schools such as the Miami Hurricanes, the USC Trojans, the LSU Tigers and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Pittman Predicted to Choose Historic Team

However, on Tuesday, Rivals' Greg Smith logged a recruiting prediction machine for the safety to pass on all of those teams and instead land with the five-time national championship-winning Nebraska Cornhuskers.

"Pittman has been a frequent visitor at Nebraska just being an hour away from campus," Smith wrote. "He has taken one visit this year back on March 27...  expect him to also attend at least one Nebraska game this fall too."

Smith, claiming the safety is a frequent visitor, may even be an understatement, as he's already traveled to Lincoln six times.

Pittman is a Highly Rated Recruit

Not only would it be exciting for Nebraska to land his commitment over several powerhouses, but Rivals places him as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 safety and the No. 16 player in the nation.

In his two seasons at the varsity level for Omaha Central High School, he's proven to be a very productive player, racking up 88 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and five interceptions in 18 games.

Nebraska Looking to Improve in 2027 Class

The 2026 recruiting class has been somewhat of a disappointment for Nebraska, landing a total of just 12 players for a group that ranks No. 59 in the nation. It's a serious step down considering that from 2023 to 2025, they secured three straight top-30 classes.

That's why it's no surprise to see them getting to work so early in the 2027 class, already receiving a commitment from four-star quarterback Trae Taylor, with Pittman possibly soon to follow.
