Fans praised Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders Earns Respect by Setting Boundaries With Deion Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After being drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of April’s NFL draft, quarterback Shedeur Sanders wanted to improve his game before inviting his dad to watch him play.
Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders, better known as Coach Prime, sat down with Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin to discuss why he did not attend any of the Browns' offseason workouts.
“I’m not where I want to be, let me get where I need to be”
Coach Prime was away from Colorado for several months due to a battle with bladder cancer that he revealed during a press conference on Monday. During his time in recovery, he visited son Shilo Sanders, who is a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
However, he did not visit Shedeur Sanders with the Browns. “Shedeur told me not to come,” Coach Prime said.
“He’s like, 'Dad, I'm getting three to four reps at practice. I don't want you to see it. I’m not where I want to be, let me get where I need to be.'”
Deion Sanders praised his son for showing honesty because “he’s dealing with it like a pro.”
Shedeur Sanders Receives the Stamp of Approval from Fans
After the interview ended multiple fans praised the Browns quarterback.
“I have no doubt Shedeur will earn his spot,” one fan commented on X.
“Shedeur knows he has to earn his spot, and that is ok,” another wrote.
“I respect it,” another shared. “Shedeur is on a mission.”
“Shedeur’s maturity is next level,” one fan commented. “Either he matured 10 years from the draft slide or more likely everything that people said about him pre and post draft was just (expletive).”
“Shedeur is one of a kind for sure,” another wrote. “The way he has handled himself throughout the entire draft process and this offseason/pre-season is nothing short of impressive. Anyone who’s ever said a bad word about him should apologize.”
“If [you] didn't like Shedeur before you should now,” another shared. “He’s humble and confident.”
