The physical fitness of Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic was frequently discussed this past season following his trade from the Dallas Mavericks, but he seems to be putting those concerns to rest.
On Monday, Doncic went viral on social media after photos from his interview with Men's Health surfaced online, showing him looking as slim as ever. While a professional athlete who is just 26 years old being in good shape normally won't make headlines, the Mavericks reportedly had concerns over his conditioning, and it ended up being one of the main reasons they traded the five-time All-NBA guard.
It also served as motivation for Doncic this offseason, as he revealed he gave up basketball for a month to focus on recovery, building strength and challenging his body in different ways by picking up pickleball.

Fans took notice of Doncic's physical transformation, with many predicting a monster season for him.
"I speak for all Laker fans when I say…Thank you Nico. League’s in trouble," warned one commenter.
"Oh he’s on that Bron workout grind," suggested a second.
"Skinny Luka bout to be a problem. Dude still only 26. Like a rookie all over again," said another.
"Prime Luka back lets go," commented another.
"Luka's been working hard," observed one fan.
Luka Doncic's Lakers Extension
While much of Doncic's work this offseason can be credited to him wanting to silence the naysayers, it is also coming before he is expected to sign a monster contract extension with the Lakers. As confirmed by ESPN's Bobby Marks, Doncic is in line for a four-year and $229 million extension in early August.
Regardless of what his motivation is, Doncic made it clear in the interview he is hoping to stay consistent.
“Obviously, be the best that I can be, take care of myself,” Doncic said. “This year, with my team, I think we did a huge step. But this is just the start, you know. I need to keep going. Can’t stop.”
If Doncic is able to return to an MVP-contending level, many may look back at the Mavericks trading him and this offseason as the catalysts. Only time will tell, but the Lakers certainly have to love what they are seeing from the future of their franchise.
