The Phoenix Suns have been named among the favorites to sign a former first overall pick this offseason.

The Phoenix Suns entered the offseason looking to make major changes to their roster and that has been exactly what they have done thus far.

Of course, the Suns have broken up their big three of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal as they traded Durant to the Houston Rockets and bought out Beal’s contract.

They also signed Booker to a massive two-year contract extension that officially makes him the focal point of their plan moving forward.

In the Durant trade, they landed Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks from Houston along with draft capital, including the pick they used to select Khaman Maluach.

They also added Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the 2025 draft and acquired Mark Williams via a trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

Phoenix will now enter next season with an almost completely different roster from last season but more moves may be coming as they have recently been linked to a former first overall pick.

According to Bovada, the Suns have the second-best odds (+255) to sign Ben Simmons in free agency this summer.

The Boston Celtics are the favorite (+185) to land him with the New York Knicks (+375) and Sacramento Kings (+375) also being mentioned.

Of course, Simmons is no longer the All-Star caliber player that he once was but he proved last season that he could still be a solid contributor off the bench for a contending team.

His fit in Phoenix would be a decent one, especially with their lack of true point guard depth, and he can also play both forward positions.

Simmons would give the Suns a much-needed playmaker off the bench and he would also give them a great defender, though his injury history could have Phoenix shying away from him.

Despite this, Simmons would be a solid fit in Phoenix though he may elect to sign with a contending team for next season.
