Josh Allen had an MVP season last year, but the Buffalo Bills still couldn’t accomplish their overall team goal of reaching, then winning, a Super Bowl. But it’s a new year, and expectations are once again at an all-time high.
Like we’ve seen in past years, the Bills have made several potentially impactful additions this offseason. Some of those have come on defense, like signing Joey Bosa. Others have arrived in the 2025 NFL Draft, like cornerback Maxwell Hairston, the 30th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hairston is projected to be one of the Bills’ starting cornerbacks this season, working in tandem with Taron Johnson, Christian Benford, and Tre’Davious White. However, now the start of Hairston’s NFL career is being delayed.
According to multiple Bills reporters, Hairston suffered an unknown non-contact injury during Buffalo’s practice on Tuesday.
“Hairston was going through the usual drills that the defensive backs do every practice. Jackson said that it was just a little ‘freak trip up’ and Hairston went down in a lot of pain. Bills head athletic trainer Nate Breske immediately attended to the injured 21-year-old as teammates gathered.”

It’s not yet known just how serious Hairston’s injury is, but losing out on any valuable practice time is not ideal for a first-year player trying to earn an immediate role. We’ll be sure to keep updating Bills fans on further Hairston injury news if it’s anything serious. For now, we’ll have to wait along with the rest of the world.
