Cooper Flagg is undoubtedly the most popular NBA rookie today, so naturally, interest in him is at an all-time high.

Even before he made it to the NBA — with the Mavericks selecting him No. 1 overall in the 2025 Draft — Flagg was already considered the best talent in the 2025 class. He solidified that status with his incredible one-and-done season with the Duke Blue Devils, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 37 games played.

With Flagg leading the way, the Blue Devils made it all the way to the Final Four before falling to the Houston Cougars.

Amid the demand for more content and information about Flagg ahead of his rookie season, the Mavericks gave in and dropped a fun video where the 18-year-old forward answered the most-asked fan questions about him on the search engine Google.

What Did Cooper Flagg Study at Duke?

In the Mavs' video, the first question Flagg answered was a query about his field of study while he was at Duke. According to the teenage hooper, though, he didn't have a major and simply took a "bunch of basic classes."

However, Flagg did take some classes about finance, perhaps in preparation for his NBA career. Flagg's rookie contract with the Mavs is worth $62.7 million over a four-year span.

"I was undecided, undeclared," Flagg explained. "I didn't have a major, but I took a bunch of basic classes, some finance classes, trying to learn about money and stuff. So that was really what I was studying my first year."

Why Does Cooper Flagg Want to Wear 32?

Right after Flagg was drafted, his choice of jersey number was revealed. At Duke, he wore No. 2. With Dallas, however, he went with No. 32.

Apparently, there's a special reason behind it. In the same video, Flagg was asked why he chose the number, and he went on to explain that it's because his mom wore the same jersey number in high school.

"So my mom wore 32 when she was in high school and that was always her number," Flagg shared. "She had teammates in college that wore it, so she didn't wear it in college, but she wore it in high school, so that's really why."

According to Sporting News, Flagg's mom, Kelly Flagg, attended Nokomis Regional High School and scored 1,257 points in her high school hoops career. She proceeded to play at the collegiate level at the University of Maine.

Does Cooper Flagg Have a Nickname?

Flagg's most popular nickname is "The Maine Event," and he seems to have fully embraced it. In fact, he previously said that it's a "cool" nickname.

Personally, he shared that a lot of people call him "Coop" — which he considers a nickname. However, he refused to say what those close to him, particularly his family, call him.

"People in my family, they call me other names," he stated. "My grandmother has other nicknames for me, but I'm not gonna make those public 'cause they are a little embarrassing."

Who Is Cooper Flagg's Dream 1V1?

Flagg has been often compared to Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird, thanks to his size, versatility and skills. Sure enough, it doesn't look like the new Mavs star is running away from the comparisons.

The young Flagg even admitted in the Mavs' video that Bird is the player he would want to face in a dream one-vs-one match-up.

"I might says, dream 1V1, maybe Larry Bird," Flagg revealed. "You know I used to watch him a lot growing up. So I feel like that would be a really cool person to play one-on-one with when he was in his prime."
