Hughes has played 22 times this season and has made 14 cuts. His best finish is a runner-up at the OneFlight Myrtle Beach Classic, where he came up short in a three-way playoff.

The Canadian is 59th in the FedEx Cup Playoff standings, pretty safely inside the top-70 cutoff for the three-tournament postseason that starts in Memphis in 10 days. There was no reason given for his withdrawal. PGA Tour rules stipulate that if golfers WD before an event starts, they're not required to provide a reason.

The field for the 2025 Wyndham Championship is set and as strong as it's ever been – from Adam Scott to Jordan Spieth and fellow past major winner Hideki Matsuyama.
