Millwall have signed Alfie Doughty from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee on a long-term contract.

The 25-year-old, who is a boyhood fan of the club, made 103 appearances for the Hatters and played in all 38 games of their Premier League season in 2023-24.

A versatile player who can play in multiple wide positions, Doughty is Millwall's sixth summer signing.

"I am really pleased we could get this deal done," said Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen.

"Alfie is a player I've known for a long time, from when we were both at Charlton. Even as recently as a year ago, there was Premier League interest in him.

"He is an exciting footballer, and a Millwall fan, which has helped speed up the process, as he really wanted to join the club, which is an important factor when speaking to these players."

Doughty moved to Kenilworth Road from Stoke City in 2022 and scored six goals for the club.

He made 31 appearances as Luton won promotion from the Championship in 2022-23.

Doughty began his career at Charlton Athletic, making 43 appearances for the Addicks before moving to Stoke in 2021.

He played just 16 times for the Potters before joining Luton the following year.

Millwall have followed up their eighth-placed finish in the Championship last season by breaking their club transfer record for striker Josh Coburn to make his loan move from Middlesbrough a permanent deal.

Zak Sturge has also been brought back to The Den after his six-month loan from Chelsea, while Max Crocombe, Massimo Luongo and Steven Benda have also joined the club.

They begin the new Championship season away to Norwich City on Saturday, 9 August.
