Browns sign RB who led the UFL in touchdowns amid Quinshon Judkins uncertainty

Toa Taua is a Brown.

The Cleveland Browns expected to have second-round running back Quinshon Judkins competing for their starting running back job.

But the Ohio State RB remains unsigned after he was arrested on a charge of battery and domestic violence.

In an effort to fill out the running back depth chart, the Browns have signed Toa Taua, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Taua spent the past two seasons in the UFL with the Michigan Panthers. He led the league in rushing touchdowns in 2025 with six, and totaled 357 rushing yards on 4.4 yards per carry.

The 5-foot-9, 218-pound back played collegiately at Nevada, where he had 3,995 rushing yards and 33 TDs along with 1,192 receiving yards.

His dual-threat ability should allow him to make a case for a roster spot just by being versatile.

Cleveland has returning Jerome Ford and another rookie, Dylan Sampson out of Tennessee. They should see most of the RB work right now.

But there's always a chance a guy like Taua can make a surprising impression after playing well in the spring league.
