2025 Jaguars 53-man roster prediction: Who stays, who goes after one week of camp?

The Jacksonville Jaguars just completed their first week of training camp. Who will and won't make the team as the 2025 Jags take shape?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are entering the dog days of training camp already, after several days have passed. Now, the team will look to shape the roster in general manager James Gladstone and head coach Liam Coen's image as the regular season draws near.

The Jaguars added many players to their roster this year, and no other player has received as much attention as receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. Hunter is expected to play both offense and defense on a full-time basis. He actually gives Jacksonville some leeway if they want to go short at both receiver and cornerback when it comes time to make those decisions.

Still, the team's depth this year means many players who fans might have grown to know over the years will no longer be there. Now in are the players that Gladstone and Coen have hand-selected to fit their environment. By being nothing more than who they are, they'll likely elevate the team, at least according to Gladstone.

With that being said, the Jaguars have completed their first week of training camp practices with many more to come.

While early, here's our 53-man roster projection:

Jacksonville Jaguars 53-man roster after Week 1 of training camp

Quarterbacks (2)

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (16) prepares to throw deep during an NFL training camp fourth session at the Miller Electric Center, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s):Trevor Lawrence

Reserves: Nick Mullens

Observations: Mullens is the clear backup, and the ultimate decision will come down to whether the Jaguars think that John Wolford or Seth Henigan will be scooped on waivers or allowed to go to the practice squad. Henigan feels like the obvious practice squad player for now, even with far less experience.

Running backs (4)

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby (4) runs the ball during an NFL training camp session at the Miller Electric Center, Friday, July 25, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s):Travis Etienne

Reserves: Tank Bigsby, Bhayshul Tuten, LeQuint Allen Jr.

Observations: This position group has a chance to be special if its potential is reached. I don't see Etienne being traded at this point, especially without a clear trade partner to point to due to injuries or otherwise. If Coen sticks to what he typically would do with running backs, all of them should have some sort of role if active on gameday.

Wide receivers (6)

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dyami Brown (5), Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Travis Hunter (12) and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (7) run a drill during an NFL training camp second session at the Miller Electric Center, Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s):Travis Hunter, Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown

Reserves: Parker Washington, Joshua Cephus, Eli Pancol

Observations: The Jaguars could end up keeping an extra receiver if Hunter is forced to play more defense than initially planned. That is to be determined. For now, the two most interesting bottom-of-the-roster receivers on the team are easily Cephus and Pancol.

Tight ends (3)

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange (85) runs a route around obstacles during an NFL training camp session at the Miller Electric Center, Friday, July 25, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): Brenton Strange

Reserves: Hunter Long, Johnny Mundt

Observations: Mundt is dealing with an injury and is day to day, but unless he can't suit up come Week 1, he should remain on the roster. No other tight end has stood out besides the top three, with Strange and Long looking like they belong.

Offensive linemen (9)

Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Walker Little (72) warms up during an NFL training camp fourth session at the Miller Electric Center, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): Walker Little, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Anton Harrison

Reserves: Chuma Edoga, Cole Van Lanen, Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim

Observations: This position group is more fluid than given credit for, but the ultimate test will come as the team continues to practice in full pads. For now, this feels like the easy group to list out.

Defensive ends (4)

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (41) warms up during an NFL training camp fourth session at the Miller Electric Center, Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): Josh Hines-Allen, Travon Walker

Reserves: Emmanuel Ogbah, Dawuane Smoot

Observations: Smoot is back and the Jaguars ought to have a solid rotation at defensive end this year.

Defensive tackle (5)

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Arik Armstead (91) buckles up his helmet during an NFL training camp second session at the Miller Electric Center, Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): DaVon Hamilton, Arik Armstead

Reserves: Maason Smith, Tyler Lacy, Jordan Jefferson

Observations: Hines-Allen called Hamilton the best nose tackle in the NFL. That's a lofty compliment given Hamilton's up-and-down career since sustaining a back ailment that ultimately forced him to miss half of the 2023 season. If Hamilton is back and Armstead returns to form inside at defensive tackle, it could be a very formidable group.

Linebackers (6)

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Chad Muma (48) makes a run Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd (0) during the fourth organized team activity at the Miller Electric Center in Jacksonville, Fla. Tuesday, May 27, 2025. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): Foye Oluokun, Devin Lloyd, Ventrell Miller

Reserves: Yasir Abdullah, Jack Kiser, Jalen McLeod

Observations: Dennis Gardeck, McLeod and Abdullah are likely all vying for two roster spots at most, barring a change within the team's top-two players at the position. Without pads on, it's hard to tell who is standing out from this group but it could come down to special teams. Gardeck hasn't hit the field during camp thus far, so he's the odd man out.

Cornerbacks (7)

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Tyson Campbell (3) looks on during the second mandatory minicamp at Miller Electric Center Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Starter(s): Travis Hunter, Tyson Campbell, Jourdan Lewis

Reserves:Jarrian Jones, Montaric 'Buster' Brown, De'Antre Prince, Christian Braswell

Observations: Zechariah McPhearson has had a better camp than De'Antre Prince thus far, but it's way too early to cut a former fifth-round pick even if he wasn't selected by the previous regime. Brown has had a lower-body injury since the second day of camp and there has been no timeline given for his recovery. It wouldn't be surprising to see the team keep an extra player like McPhearson or Braswell on the roster because of that.

Safeties (5)

Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard (42) looks on during an NFL training camp session at the Miller Electric Center, Friday, July 25, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s):Eric Murray, Andrew Wingard

Reserves:Darnell Savage, Caleb Ransaw, Rayuan Lane III

Observations: This is a weird group in both good and bad ways. The good is that the team seems to have a plan for the position and has locked in a vet (Murray) already. They also spent two draft picks on the position. Neither Ransaw nor Lane has stood out much in camp thus far, but they ought to have the advantage over vets like Daniel Thomas and Antonio Johnson.

Wingard is penciled in as a starter for now, but he isn't safe from cut-down day whatsoever.

Specialists (3)

Jacksonville Jaguars place kicker Cam Little (39) walks off the field after warming up during an NFL training camp second session at the Miller Electric Center, Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. [Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union]

Starter(s): Cam Little, Logan Cooke, Ross Matiscik

Reserves: N/A

Observations: Best unit on the team.
