Keondre Coburn was waived by the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.
Raiders Claim Former Texas Defensive Tackle Off Waivers on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The NFL can be a cruel business.
At any point during the year, players can unexpectedly get waived, cut, or traded to another team. A prime example of that is former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Keondre Coburn getting waived by the Tennessee Titans on Thursday just one day into training camp. The Titans needed to make room for the signing of veteran free agent linebacker Jihad Ward.
Fortunately for Coburn, he was claimed by the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday. The Raiders released defensive tackle Christian Wilkins the day prior.
Coburn began his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs after he was selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The former Longhorn played in 15 games for the Titans last season, totaling 14 tackles.
During his five-year collegiate career at Texas, Coburn appeared in 51 games (45 starts) and compiled 96 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He had a breakout senior campaign in 2022 earning Second Team All-Big 12 honors and honorable mention Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Coburn is now on this third NFL team in as many seasons in the league.
